Read on and on about Abudwak
district. The
district of Abudwak is located in northwest of Galgadud
region in central Somalia, it has border with the Somali
region of Ethiopia. The population of the district is
roughly around 220,000 including surrounding villages, most
of these people are pastoralists herding camels, cattle and
goats. In 1991, thousands of IDPS
fleeing ethnic wartime in Mogadishu and other parts of
Somalia returned to the district adding economic burden to
an already impoverished population, in addition to that,
since there is no port and airfields to import and export
economically, the district depends on livestock and
small-scale business. Moreover, the communicating system is
rapidly developing, for example, telecommunications include
–Somtel, Nation link, Hurmuud and Telecom which carry out
good service and accountability for the community. Nowadays
they are even providing wireless mobile phones with better
transmission. That is pretty much all I knew
about them. The district has five well-maintained boreholes,
two health posts, two schools which enroll 1200 students up
to grade 8. The sanitation and proper health care remained
untouched. Besides this progress our
district experienced difficult times for the last ten years.
Some of the international community who come here only to
help us met bad treatment and insecurity we are sorry and
apologizing all previous mistakes. Administratively, the district is
ruled by an elected council of elders, nevertheless
the lives of the people in the district depend on their
relatives who are themselves refugees in the Diaspora, most
of these dependents are unaware what life is like and expend
all means of life by chewing –useless Mira-(Qad) from
Kenya and that from Ethiopia –Hareeri- I will write more about Qad next
time if insha’Allaah. Thanks a million to Allaah .SWT. Cabdi Sacdi Jaamac
